The collection includes drafts, review copies, and mock-ups of Gary L. Doster's book, A Postcard History of Athens, Georgia, published 2002 by the Athens Historical Society. Some of the documents feature handwritten notes, providing insight into the process of editing and publishing a work of local history.

This collection contains papers dealing with Hugh Logan’s government activity, both at the state and local level. Correspondence consists of letters concerning local government and mainly the Athens-Clarke County Commission.

Documents pertaining to the Athens Community Council on Aging’s participation in the Grassroots Arts Program, which led to the creation of The History of the Station, an oral history of the railroad station formerly located on Hoy Street. The Council attained ownership of the building in 1987 and restored it to use as their headquarters.

It consists of correspondence regarding cancellation of programs and other matters; business and legal documentation of programs and advertisements, including F. C. C. reports and receipts for advertising buys; and materials related to a legal dispute between Whitehead and MediaOne regarding WNGM's inclusion in Atlanta-area markets.

The collection consists of documents relating to the consolidation of the governments of the city of Athens and Clarke County. Included in the collection are documents created by and about the Charter Overview Commission, as well as documents reviewed by the commission to create a report on the first four years of the unified government.

The Tanner Lumber Company was an Athens-based company that sold builders’ and artists’ materials until 1996. The collection includes documents and ephemera belonging to the company, as well as miscellaneous materials from two other local businesses, the Dozier Company and Athens Market Inc. Also included in the collection are family records of the company’s president, J.B. Tanner.

The collection consists of Athens High and Industrial School student and staff photographs, an issue of the AHIS student newspaper, press clippings, school reunion material, and Lyons School photographs.
