Biographical / Historical

The Sarepta Baptist Association was created in 1799 and is the third oldest Baptist association in Georgia. The association was formed when Baptist churches asked to be dismissed from the Georgia Baptist Association and they collectively decided to form their own. The goal of the new association was to establish it near the churches they served, as roads were unreliable and travel was difficult. The association currently serves a region of counties located in Northeast Georgia. These counties include Clarke, Jackson, Oglethorpe, Madison, Oconee and Franklin, however, churches from other counties have been a part of the association in the past.
