Biographical / Historical

Alec Little was a dedicated environmentalist who worked with a number of organizations in Georgia. On his passing in 1991, an award was created in his name to honor the Athens-based people ord organizations that practice and support environmental sustainability. The award has been given out every year since 1992. The winners are chosen by an advisory board that debates the actions and merits of the environmentally-conscious submissions.

The collection contains many documents from the years, 1992-2018, including the board members’ personal correspondence and examples of coverage of the award in local news media. This includes the first official proposal for the award from 1992. There are also photographs of the recipients and an award donated by one of the victors.
