J. Tanner collection of Clarke Central High School memorabilia

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Collection number: MSS-024

Scope and Contents

Among the items in the folder, Classwork and extracurricular activies, is the Student Guidebok for the 1978-1979 school year. In addition to an overview of the rules governing the school, this guidebook provides information about student publications and music and sports actitivites open to students. The folder also contains a few documents pertaining to the Student Activities Association. The folder, Event programs, among numerous items includes a program for the school’s graduation exercises at the Univeristy Coliseum, June 5, 1979. Many of the smaller awards date from before Tanner’s high-school years, mostly from the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Green Hills Country Club. Besides the Lion’s Club and the Georgia Crackers baseball team, the collection of pins includes one Georgia Bulldogs pin and one for the 1975 Peach Bowl that took place at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

The inscription on the metal plaque on the base of the baseball trophy states only: “Dairy Queen 1974,” while a stamp on the bottom of the base shows that it came from the Trophy Shop, 150 Winston Drive, Athens, Georgia. The award plaque for “Outstanding Senior in Vocational” was also made by the Trophy Shop. The Future Business Leaders of America trophy bears a sticker on the bottom of its base showing that it was made by Classic City Trophies.
