Scope and Contents
This collection consists of thirty-six carte-de-visites of the Fourth Georgia Volunteer Infantry. The origin and compilation of the collection are unknown. The photographs were framed and given to the Athens library by the Laura Rutherford Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy when Sarah Marett was a librarian here.

Organized in Augusta, April 1861, this regiment included soldiers from multiple counties. The regiment surrendered April 9, 1865.
