1 box containing multiple framed images of African American seniors who were photographed for the purposes of discussing their experiences during segregation and afterwards.

Scope and Contents

The folder contains photographs and each individual image comes with a descriptive label. The labels give a short biography of the person in the photograph as well as quotes from the individuals describing their experiences before and after segregation. There is one document explaining the reasoning behind the collection and its creation by students from the University of Georgia.

This collection has no restrictions. This collection is open to the public. Library policy on photography and photocopying will apply. Advance notice may be required. Apply in the Heritage Room for access.

Biographical / Historical

The collection was created by the students at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. They created this exhibit to educate themselves in race relations in the Athens, Ga area before and after segregation.
