Nichols Family papers, 1817-1885
Scope and Contents
The correspondence includes a letter addressed to Christie C. Nichols from E. W. Nichols and two addressed to Ransom, one of which is from James Hudson, Ransom’s nephew; the second is signed, but the name is indecipherable. The remainder of the subcollection appear to be receipts for goods and services.

This collection has no restrictions. This collection is open to the public. Library policy on photography and photocopying will apply. Advance notice may be required. Apply in the Heritage Room for access. The exception is the Order of the Eastern Star collection, the directories included in which list the personal addresses and phone numbers of members. These directories are not available to the public.
Biographical / Historical
Listed in the 1850 census as a farmer, Ransom Nichols served as a Constable and at least campaigned for the position of Tax Receiver. He died in 1856.
