Biographical / Historical
Located behind Holy Cross Lutheran Church on West Lake Drive, Brooklyn Cemetery has in recent years been restored after decades of neglect. One of the city’s historic African American cemeteries, its burial plots offer crucial genealogical information. Meriwether B. Rhodes’ report and the accompanying map, which together comprise this subcollection, provide the names and location of those buried in the cemetery.
