Scope and Contents
The report describes the conditions of the trestle in 2013. The trestle, already in state of disrepair, has since been removed and replaced by a new trestle that functions as part of the Firefly trail. The photographs offer significant visual evidence of the trestle, being of high resolution and showing the trestle from several different vantage points.

This collection has no restrictions. This collection is open to the public. Library policy on photography and photocopying will apply. Advance notice may be required. Apply in the Heritage Room for access. The exception is the Order of the Eastern Star collection, the directories included in which list the personal addresses and phone numbers of members. These directories are not available to the public.
Biographical / Historical
The possible preservation of the trestle depicted in these photographs became a concern for local residents due not only to its place within Dudley Park but also because a photograph of it had been used for the back cover of the R. E. M. album Murmur, released in 1983. As indicated in the documentation found in this subcollection, these photographs were taken to document the trestle, given that it had been identified as an historical property likely to be adversely effected by ongoing work to turn old railroad tracks into bicycle and walking paths.
