University of Georgia postcards with personal correspondence, 1944-1945
Scope and Contents
Six postcards, all addressed to Estel Woolum, mostly while she resided in Corbin, Kentucky, sent by a man named Gordon with a middle or surname initial of B. Initially, Ethel is in Chicago, and Gordon is in Corbin. Later, Ethel is in Corbin and the author has traveled to Athens, making note of an ailing brother, apparently named Reese, whose death appears to be imminent; suggesting that Athens is either his hometown or at least his brother’s current home. Earlier in the correspondence, when Ethel’s address is in Chicago, Gordon refers to Ethel’s sister being in ill health.
