Scope and Contents

Much of the content of the single issue in this collection is about musicians, including the Big Fish Ensemble, Chumbawumba, Black ’47, the Oysterband, the Levellers, Speeder, and Hobex. It also includes an interview with Henry Owings, founder of Chunklet magazine. The issue also contains sociopolitical commentary, illustrations, poetry, and personal observations.

Biographical / Historical

According to the editor’s comment on the first page, Un-Deep started “in 1996 after the demise of a previous zine called the Free Press.” Beth Pitchford was the creator.
