Biographical / Historical
These photographs show portions of downtown and the University campus circa 1959. Especially noteworthy are the views of the Hot Corner portion of downtown, at the time an African American enclave; many of these buildings were demolished within a decade or so of these photographs being taken. The two shots of Clayton Street offer views of nearly three full city blocks, and as such could prove helpful to researchers in indentifying businesses and structures.
