Holiday Inn, 1985-1986

The collection contains 965 35mm slides in cardboard mounts. The photographs primarily depict Athens and the University of Georgia, including buildings, persons, and advertising. Each series is divided by the labels that McClure placed on his original slide holders. Brief descriptions of each series are as follows:

Series I: Holiday Inn which contains promotional and editorial images of the Athens Holiday Inn from 1985 and 1986.

Series II: UGA and Athens, 80s which contains images of the UGA campus and some various shots of Athens from the 1980s. This series overlaps significantly with the later two series (Series III and Series IV) but was a distinct category in McClure's description.

Series III: Campus/University Campus which contains images of the University of Georgia campus. Photos in this series were originally labelled under both "Campus" and "University Campus," which were combined into one series. Slide sheets with no additional markers were condensed onto two slide sheets. Three photos labelled "Ne Athens" were removed from this series and placed in Series IV: Athens.

Series IV: Athens which contains photos of Athens, particularly Downtown Athens. Photos were condensed from six photo slide sheets to five photo slide sheets.

Series V: Leisure Time, Recreation, and People which contains photos of leisure activities around Athens. All three of these titles were used on photos of these activities, and thus have been added to this description.

Series VI: Miscellaneous which contains all other labeled photos consisting of local editorial photos, local businesses, and other events around town. For a full listing of these photos, consult the full Finding Aid listing.

Series VII: Unlabelled which contains all sheets that were unlabelled in their original storage. Descriptions have been added to these sheets using information from the photos themselves. Many of these images are duplicates from photos in other Series in this collection.
